Genre Reading Group tomorrow night!
We'll be meeting tomorrow night to discuss cozy mysteries! I hope you can join us! Bring your favorite cozy mystery and tell us about it, plus get ideas from other readers. Since September's meeting falls during Banned Books Week, September 25th -October 2nd, the discussion will focus on books that have been challenged and/or banned worldwide. Come Read Between the Wines
Summer is winding down, but the best tasting time of the year is just around the corner. Mark these dates on your calendar so that you don't miss out on this fall's delicious wine events!
Western's Wine and Food Festival, featuring over 700 wines from around the world, wine experts on hand to answer questions, and food prepared by chefs from Jefferson State Culinary School, is Thursday, September 30th 2010 at 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM at the Birmingham Zoo. Proceeds to benefit the Emmet O'Neal Library. Tickets are available at all Western supermarkets and the library.
To prepare our palates for the festival, join us for The Wide World of White Wines at Emmet O'Neal Library on Thursday, September 9th from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM for an advanced beginner's class on white wines with special guest Scott Atkinson from Western in Mountain Brook Village.
We have created a menu of great wine books here at the library. Here is just a sampling of the great wine reads:

A Touch of Fall in the Air
...at least, I wish there was!
One Fall event that is definitely on the horizon is the annual Western's Fall Wine & Food Festival!
What: Over 700 wines from growing regions around the world, open for tasting and priced to sell, as well as Alabama grown and raised food prepared by chefs from Jefferson State Culinary School!
When: Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Where: The Birmingham Zoo Pavilion, 2630 Cahaba Road 35223
Advance Tickets - $45
Purchased at the Door - $55
Group Discount for 10-24 Tickets - $40 each
Group Discount for 25 or more Tickets - $35 each
Available at all Western Supermarkets or the Library

Prize-O-Rama!
Mark your calendars and plan to join us next Tuesday, August 10th at 6:30pm for the Adult Summer Reading Program finale, Bad Art Night!
Not only is it a great opportunity for adults to let go of their more serious side and have fun, but it is also where we will award the grand prize, an iPad!
We'll have wine, cheese, and snacks and you'll get to vote on the absolutely worst effort in several categories. The winners get a prize and we'll also have several great door prizes.
